I love this image. Everything about it.
We realized we needed to update the About Us section of our website and knew we needed something that embodied exactly what our business is and what we stand for. We believe so strongly in the importance of capturing real moments and, while we have slowly been moving that way for some time, we officially unveiled our Day In the Life session last year. With these sessions, we have to opportunity to give the gift of real moments, interactions, and memories for years to come.
After considering the direction our business has been taking, we knew exactly what our Bio needed.
What I love about this image are the “imperfections”—the low light causing graininess in the image, the trash and toys on the floor, the couch’s pillows and blankets all out of place, the empty Vanilla Coke Zero can sitting on the end table, and the fact that Whitney is wearing Zoey’s ‘princess’ necklaces. Let’s face it, these “imperfections” say as much about who we are as anything. Our house is (very much) lived in and generally only clean when we’re expecting company (please come over so we have the motivation to throw everything in the spare bedroom clean our house!!). Did we have to fight the urge to straighten up, fix our hair, change our clothes, and stage the setting? Well…we hadn’t had our coffee yet, so we didn’t have an urge to do much anything at that point, but still. We knew the outcome outweighed the fact that we would have to ‘fess up and allow our true selves to shine through.
Although we’re obviously not a perfect ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ family, the image also tells another story. It screams love.
If I had to guess, I’d say your family is very similar to ours. While most people probably think we’re nuts for suggesting coming over to document your morning as you’re rolling out of bed, we’ve got to tell you how huge the reaction to this image was. Why? Because it’s real. It’s relatable. And while it was certainly difficult to tear down a facade of not being slobs being much more perfect than we are, this is always going to be one of my favorite images of us as a family.
